It's a Trammy Kind of Day.

Hello. The last 3 days have been what I call 'trammy' kind of days. Not to be confused with tranny days - nevermind!

I take a prescribed medication called 'Tramacet' for the aches and pains of fibro. Fortunately, I don't need to take them every day. Sometimes, days will go by and they sit, untouched, in the nighttable by my bed. Then, other days, the aches and pains hit. And punch. Gnawing and non-stop, it feels like I have the flu. I've tried Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, Motrin - none of it really helps much at all. The only thing that has even touched the pain of fibromyalgia has been Tramacet. A Godsend. I'd be lost without it.

Some days I start off with one tablet, feeling optimistic. A few hours later and a second pill can be followed by a third, a fourth... I've never taken more than 5 pills in one day. That would have to be an extremely bad day for me - I could count them on one hand.

Other days, you just know one pill is not gonna cut it. You hedge your bets and start off with two from the outset. These are my 'trammy' days. I have them beside my bed, in my purse and in the kitchen - all conveniently located for minimum effort on my part.

Tramacet is my little miracle worker. What's yours?

  1. You are fortunate enough to be able to take Tramacet (Tramadol, Ultram, etc.). I have fibromyalgia too and have had it since I was at least 15. It took the doctors 19 years to diagnose me.....because I didn't fit the profile. Fibromyalgia patients tend to have sensitivity to medications and an increased chance of allergies to medications. I happen to very sensitive and allergic. I cannnot take any narcotic pain meds which leaves my choices for pain relief very slim. I rely on Aleve. My doctor though has recently put me on Savella, a new medication approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. It has been wonderful!!!! I have had very little pain and when I do have it, Aleve usually knocks it right out.

  2. I know I am fortunate and perhaps unusual in that I do not experience many side effects from medications. I have allergies and I would say that I am chemically sensitive. Aleve has only just arrived in Canada - I might give it a try. I have heard of Savella but I am not familar with its efficacy. The small amount of feedback that I have heard has been negative. I hope it continues to ease your fibro symptoms and pain. Thanks for writing.
P.S. I'm new to blogging - how did you find me? Just curious as I'm trying to promote my site and get it 'out there.'
